Is there a more sought-after route for Alpinists? Shrouded in infamy, tragedy and legend, this route has been an imposing forcing ground for generations of the strongest and most ambitious. More than one author speaks of the Nordwand’s ‘malevolent landscape’ and climbing this iconic route is still very much a cherished accomplishment some 85+ years after its first epic ascent.
